Professional Licensure / Certification

CPA Licensure Requirements

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), and the Federation of Schools of Accountancy (FSA) all support the 150-credit hour education requirement for entry into the accounting profession.

All CPA candidates must pass the Uniform CPA Examination to qualify for a CPA certificate and license (i.e., permit to practice) to practice public accounting. While the exam is the same no matter where it is taken, every state/jurisdiction has its own set of education and experience requirements that individuals must meet. If you plan to sit for the CPA exam pursue employment in a licensed profession after completing this program, please visit our Professional Licensure/Certification Disclosures by State interactive map.

For more detail on the CPA Exam and licensing requirements in the state of Pennsylvania, visit the Penn State Harrisburg website.
