Two face-to-face management intensives provide you with essential opportunities to develop your leadership competencies through personal interactions with classmates, faculty, and health care leaders. These experiences are designed to enhance your knowledge in key areas such as change leadership, strategic management, performance improvement, organizational design, and collaboration. You will meet in person with your fellow classmates and faculty members on the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania to complete 6 credits of program coursework over two sessions –– one week in August during the first semester of the program and one week in December of your final semester. In addition to classroom components, these face-to-face sessions will include program-sponsored events such as site visits to local health care facilities and panel discussions with industry leaders, providing you with the opportunity to network with other professionals in the field to learn from their experiences and expertise.
Attendance at both face-to-face management intensives is required. The program will cover the room and board; however, you must arrange and pay for your own travel to and from State College, Pennsylvania.
The online MHA program also includes a one-credit independent study during the fourth semester. The independent study is designed in consultation with the lead faculty member and is most often project based. The project is structured to expose you to focus areas (finance, marketing, HR, strategic planning) that are of interest to you. We expect most students to complete this project within their current organization.
