I've been able to maintain everyone's schedules and put my children to bed with a kiss every night, knowing I've still had time for them.

As a small-business owner, Amy Yohe knows that the old adage, "Knowledge is power," still holds true. Getting her bachelor's degree in business from Penn State World Campus gave her timely knowledge and innovative skills to grow the cabinetry business that she owns with her husband.

"We are in a rural area, and we realized that we needed to market our products to make it in today's economy," she said. "Learning about demographics and how people purchase things makes a difference."

At one point while Amy was taking classes, their business experienced a large drop in sales: "We were located in a small business incubator off the beaten path, so we moved our business to a better area, giving us a higher level of traffic and visibility. It was great to be able to take information that I learned during my courses and apply it in real life."

Amy took World Campus classes because of Penn State's reputation for high quality.

"I looked into several colleges and found that Penn State had a great reputation and excellent online learning opportunities. I feel my World Campus education gives me an edge; I will be perceived as someone with goals and the drive to complete them."

In addition to managing her family's business, Amy works full-time and is raising two young sons. She loves the convenience of World Campus classes, adding, "When I have free time, World Campus is there for me, 24/7. I've been able to maintain everyone's schedules and put my children to bed with a kiss every night, knowing I've still had time for them."

Amy is confident that her family's business can grow as she uses the techniques she learned in her management, marketing, and speech classes. And she is happy to talk about her education experience with others: "I encourage my co-workers who do not have college degrees to continue or start their education with World Campus."
