UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students enrolled in the Master of Engineering in Additive Manufacturing and Design (AMD), offered online through Penn State World Campus, visited the Penn State University Park campus in May as part of one of their courses.
The students, who hailed from 12 states and 11 different companies, participated in a variety of activities that highlighted additive manufacturing research at Penn State. The visit included lab and facility tours, hands-on demonstrations, a team design challenge, and a poster session.
The Master of Engineering in Additive Manufacturing and Design is a 30-credit program in which students learn analytical and practical skills to digitally design, develop, and optimize new components and subassemblies using appropriate additive manufacturing and digital design technologies. The May 16–20 student visit fulfilled a requirement in one of the program's core courses, ME 566: Metal Additive Manufacturing Lab.
