Penn State World Campus is hosting a variety of events and activities this semester for its students to get involved in the community and connect with their peers.
The schedule includes an involvement fair for students to learn about the clubs and organizations at Penn State World Campus, a monthly series for graduate students, events for Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March, and other social events.
The events are being organized by Penn State World Campus Student Affairs. All World Campus students are invited to attend the events.
The Virtual Spring Involvement Fair will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, January 23, on Zoom. The involvement fair will give students the chance to learn about the clubs and organizations that they can join and meet with the groups’ leaders.

The event, hosted by the Penn State Center for Black Digital Research, will give attendees the chance to learn about the history of the Colored Conventions movement and the Black women intellectuals involved in the movement. The event will also provide a tour of the nearly 20 digital exhibits of the Penn State University Libraries archives.
Another event, “Black Chefs in the White House,” from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday, February 26, offers students the chance to learn about the lives of the Black men and women who have served as cooks for U.S. presidents. The session will be led by Adrian Miller, the author of The President’s Cabinet. Students who join via Zoom or the in-person screening will be entered into a drawing for a copy of Miller’s book.
Women’s History Month
Two virtual events are also scheduled in March to mark Women’s History Month.
The Penn State Relationship Violence Outreach, Intervention, and Community Education Center will host "Ungendering Expectations: Gender Bias, Stereotyping, and Inclusion” online from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, March 6, to explore and identify gender stereotypes through an interactive activity.
