Many Penn State World Campus students made the trip to the University Park campus in late December to attend the University's fall commencement ceremonies.
On December 21, Penn Staters celebrated the Nittany Lions' win against Southern Methodist University at Beaver Stadium. Penn State dominated the Mustangs, 38-10, winning in the first-ever College Football Playoff game hosted in Happy Valley.
Later that evening, Penn State World Campus hosted graduates and their families and friends at a reception at the Penn Stater Hotel & Conference Center. The event included free food, professional photography, and Penn State World Campus gear for the new Penn State alumni.
Graduates participated in commencement ceremonies both virtually and in person on December 22 with their academic colleges. Each semester, Penn State World Campus students can request to attend an in-person commencement ceremony at a campus and graduate with their fellow Penn State students.
Penn State World Campus students also were invited to attend the University's ceremony to honor its graduates who are serving or who have served in the military. The University distributed red, white, and blue cords to them so they could wear them during their commencement ceremonies.
