Your Privacy and Penn State
Your privacy is of highest importance to Penn State. Information that you submit will be held in strictest confidence and will be used only by Penn State officials to provide admissions, registration, enrollment, and other personal services. It is important that you provide accurate information to ensure high-quality service on our part. In exchange, we promise that we will not distribute your personal information to anyone beyond those University purposes involving admissions, registration, enrollment, and other such services.
A Safe and Secure Process
As a major Internet user, Penn State is keenly aware of the need for Internet security. Penn State attempts to prevent other from inadvertently or maliciously gaining access to your records in the following ways: The personal information that you submit through the Web is encrypted as it travels from your computer to ours. Further, once it arrives at Penn State, the information is stored on servers that are professionally administered and which employ measures consistent with good system and security administration practice to attempt to prevent inadvertent disclosure.
Penn State has worked closely with IBM to develop a highly secure on-line credit card payment process. The credit card information you enter into the “World Campus Store Front"” page is passed between you and your financial institution in an encrypted SSL message format. It is never stored on our University computer system. This is to ensure that your information cannot be stolen or misused.
