Alexander Siedschlag, Ph.D.
Program Chair
Dr. Alexander Siedschlag is a professor of homeland security and chair of homeland security programs. His expertise includes comparative homeland security, security cultures, disaster and crisis management, scenario foresight, and NATO and European Union security policies.

Robin Qiu
Professor
Dr. Robin G. Qiu is a professor of information science at Penn State. His research includes smart service systems, IoT, big data, data/business analytics, information systems and integration, supply chain and industrial systems, and analytics.
Gretchen Kuldau
Associate Professor
Dr. Gretchen Kuldau's work focuses on understanding mycotoxin development in grain and forage crops, with an emphasis on Fusarium toxins. Her approaches include fungal molecular genetics, greenhouse, growth chamber and field studies, use of chromatography for mycotoxin analysis, and general microbiology. She teaches courses in agricultural biosecurity and co-teaches a General Education course on fungi, titled "The Fungal Jungle."
Andrew Vitek
Assistant Teaching Professor
Dr. Andrew Vitek is the director of the Counterterrorism Option and an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Political Science. His research focuses on terrorism, political violence, security studies, and pedagogy. He teaches courses on terrorism, homeland security, and comparative politics.
Edward Glantz
Teaching Professor
Dr. Edward J. Glantz, P.E., has been with the College of IST faculty since 2009. Prior to joining IST, Dr. Glantz served 10 years as a faculty member of Penn State's Smeal College of Business. His career spans more than 20 years of managing technology, research, and marketing in the manufacturing and telecommunication industries, including startup work.
Eugene Lengerich
Professor, Faculty Director
Dr. Eugene Lengerich is a professor of public health sciences and faculty director of the public health preparedness option. He teaches epidemiology and outbreak investigation and mentors students in independent research. He has led community and preparedness assessments for medical and public health students in international settings. Prior to joining Penn State, he conducted outbreak investigations as an epidemic intelligence service officer and preventive medicine resident at the CDC.
Gregory Thomas
Associate Teaching Professor
Dr. Gregory Thomas has experience developing intelligence for decision-makers, supervising the analytical process, and providing team guidance. He also has experience teaching intelligence and analytical techniques to college students as well as intelligence analysts and law enforcement personnel. He has developed operational intelligence to support criminal investigations and anti-terrorism activities, and has selected, trained, and supervised analysts in a criminal intelligence center.
