After bouncing between several career fields, Penn State Online helped Linda Housand find her true calling. Housand attended nursing school and studied engineering before settling on a career in the financial field. She enrolled in Penn State's online associate degree in letters, arts, and sciences to improve her communication skills.
"Good writing and communication are essential for a financial adviser," she says. "The number one thing you have to focus on is your ability to make difficult concepts into things that everyone can understand."
Linda says she was impressed by the professionalism exhibited by the World Campus instructors – something she now strives to attain when interacting with her clients. "The quality of the education was unbelievable; every resource was available to me," she says. "I could tell that the professors really wanted us to succeed. It wasn't just a matter of them wanting to do a job; they are quality people who cared about all of their students."
In addition to improving her communication skills, Penn State Online also introduced Linda to subjects she never imagined herself studying – including art history and weather forecasting – igniting a passion for lifelong learning in the process. "I would love to continue my education with Penn State," she says. "They showed me that there is just so much out there to learn and I can't wait to get started."
