Penn State offers the Master of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology — Educational Technology and a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Educational Technology Integration.

1. Master of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology — Educational Technology

This 33-credit program is intended for education professionals interested in learning how to design and implement technology-based learning experiences and solutions that can impact the learning process of their students or clients.

2. Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Educational Technology Integration

This 15-credit postbaccalaureate certificate best suits teachers and trainers interested in the hands-on aspects of technology integration in their professional settings. With proper planning from an instructional systems adviser in the College of Education, this certificate can fulfill almost half of your requirements for the master's degree, if you decide to apply and are accepted into the program.

Act 48 Approved

Penn State is an Act 48-approved provider for Pennsylvania educators, so the courses in both educational technology programs may count toward your professional development hours.

Who Should Apply?

The Master of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology — Educational Technology can help you develop and assess the impact of technology-based learning experiences. If you are an educator who is interested in designing, developing, and evaluating the impact of technology on learning, this program was designed for you. We recommend access to students (in your classroom, school, or organization) for implementation and evaluation of program projects, however adaptations are available for educational technology students who do not have direct access to instructional settings.

Please note that this program does not lead to initial teacher certification or the Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional Technology Specialist Certificate. However, this program may help you to renew your teacher certification. Check with your state's Department of Education for exact requirements for recertification.
