Deadlines and Important Dates
While applications are accepted year-round, students begin course work once per year in the fall semester. Your application, including receipt of all application materials, must be received by the following deadline to be considered complete:
- July 1 for fall semester admission
For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold either (1) a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or (2) a tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution. This degree must be from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates.
Applicants should have knowledge or experience in quantitative work such as science, engineering, or business. Applicants from other disciplines will be considered based on prior coursework and professional experience. All students are required to have prior knowledge of statistics by completing STAT 500 (Applied Statistics) at Penn State with a grade of B+ or better. An equivalent graduate-level statistics course or academic experience, or significant professional experience using statistics may be considered (as determined by admissions committee). In lieu of an appropriate statistics course or adequate professional experience, GMAT or GRE test scores will be considered.

Transcripts not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation. Penn State alumni do not need to request transcripts for credits earned at Penn State, but must list Penn State as part of your academic history.
GPA and Test Scores — GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the final two years of undergraduate studies or in your most recent graduate degree is required.
Official GMAT/GRE scores from within the past five years are encouraged but not required. Submit your official GMAT or GRE score report using these codes:

Minimum test scores and exceptions are found in the English Proficiency section on the Graduate School's "Requirements for Graduate Admission" page.
References (2) — This program requires two references. You will need to initiate the process through the online application by entering names and email addresses of references. Upon submission of your application, an email will be sent to each recommender requesting they complete a brief online recommendation regarding your professional and/or academic strengths and accomplishments and your potential for success in an online program. The admissions committee prefers that all letters be written within the last six months by an administrative supervisor, professional colleague, or a practicing analytics researcher. Letters should reference the applicant's current career goals. Please inform all recommenders they must submit the form in order for your application to be complete.
Statement of Purpose — Describe how your professional experience and goals align with the Certificate in Business Analytics. Do not exceed 500 words. Upload to the online application.
Vita or Résumé — A one- to two-page listing of your professional experience. Upload to the online application.
