Remarks
This course explores intergenerational programs and practices found in schools, retirement communities, health care facilities, recreation centers, and other community settings. These initiatives are designed to: meet eldercare and childcare needs, strengthen educational systems, strengthen families, and build more cohesive, caring communities. The course examines the origins, public policy implications, and program evaluation studies that are helping to give form to the intergenerational studies field as it evolves on an international level. Attention is given to such practical matters as obtaining funding, working with diverse organizational partners, recruiting participants, and utilizing effective techniques for working with multi-generational groups.
