Course Description
Intermediate SAS for data management.

Remarks
Students are strongly recommended to have access to a PC in order to use the required software. STAT 481 (Intermediate SAS for Data Management) builds on the skills and tools learned in STAT 480 (Introduction to SAS) to increase students' SAS programming skills to an intermediate-level. The course addresses a wide variety of intermediate-level topics in SAS programming, including: importing and exporting data, debugging SAS programs, the TABULATE and REPORT procedures, the Output Delivery System (ODS), arrays and do loops, macro processing and error checking, the SQL procedure, date and time processing, randomization and random sampling, and creating publication quality graphics using SAS Graph. The course does not cover any of the numerous statistical analysis procedures available in SAS.Schedule This Course

Software Requirements
Requires: Students will need to have Microsoft Word 2003 or higher and SAS 9.1.3, 9.2 or 9.3 to complete the requirements of this course. SAS 9.1.3 will NOT run on Windows 95, 98, or ME. Students will need to upgrade to the PROFESSIONAL version. If you do not have Microsoft Word you can purchase the latest version through JourneyEd.com (www.journeyed.com) or a vendor of your choice. Students may purchase SAS through the Penn State Computer Store at http://computerstore.psu.edu for approximately $30. Students will need to have their nine-digit PSU ID to purchase SAS. Students will also need Adobe Reader and the QuickTime player.
