Topics include a history of applied behavior analysis; underlying assumptions; dimensions and characteristics of ABA; ethics; basic terminology and principles.

Strong writing skills are recommended for this course. If English is not your native language, it is important that you read additional information regarding English language proficiency before registering for this course.

Remarks

SPLED 503A is offered once per year in the fall semester. The course covers basic principles of behavior, behavioral observation and assessment, and data collection and display and is a prerequisite for SPLED 503B, SPLED 503C, and SPLED 503D. All exams must be taken online with a proctor present. There are four optional recommended textbooks to help with understanding the course content:
