Employment relations and legislative and policy responses to labor force issues of racial and gender inequality.

Remarks
This course will focus on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the "how" and "why" of employment inequities in order to better assess potential solutions. The content of this course touches on theories of employment, stratification, empirical studies of inequality, labor legislation, worker organizations, and current events to begin to develop a picture of work inequality as it exists today and where it may be going in the future. The lesson assignments include 8 small group activities, 5 individual writing assignments (choose 5 out of 10), and 10 online discussion activities (choose 10 out of 11). Students are required to watch movies related to the subject matter. Please refer to the course syllabus for a specific list of titles. For students who plan to graduate this semester, please communicate your intent to graduate to your instructor. This will alert your instructor to the need to submit your final grade in time to meet the published graduation deadlines.Â
