World mythology: myths primarily of non-Western cultures, based on selected areas and traditions around the world.

Remarks
This course explores myths and mythic traditions from non-Western cultures. Students will read and analyze myths from Native American, ancient Near Eastern, Hindu, and African traditions. In comparing this variety of myths, students will see how beliefs from around the world differ yet share important metaphors and express universal human concerns. Each week students will be required to submit one written essay and there is an essay exam at the end of each unit. At the end of the course there will be a comprehensive essay exam. For students who plan to graduate this semester, please communicate your intent to graduate to your instructor. This will alert your instructor to the need to submit your final grade in time to meet the published graduation deadlines.Schedule This Course
