Letter from National Councilor, Peter Rubba

In 1945 Dr. Rollin Posey, dean of University College at Northwestern University, founded the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society to honor dedicated adult learners who achieve and maintain high scholastic standards. As national councilor for the Pi Delta Chi chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda at Penn State World Campus, I share Dr. Posey's enthusiasm for recognizing the academic achievement of nontraditional students.

Penn State World Campus founded Pi Delta Chi to recognize World Campus adult learners who achieve high academic standing, to celebrate their scholarship and leadership, and to provide opportunities for scholarships thorough Alpha Sigma Lambda. Pi Delta Chi is one of more than 300 chartered chapters of Alpha Sigma Lambda across the country.

As a professor and administrator at Penn State, I've seen firsthand the sacrifices and choices that adult learners make in pursuit of their educational goals. It is rarely easy, but the rewards of achieving those goals and overcoming the challenges are immeasurable.

On behalf of Penn State World Campus and the Pi Delta Chi chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, I encourage World Campus students to strive for your goals and the accompanying rewards. We in Pi Delta Chi look forward to including you among the ranks of students to be recognized for academic achievement.

Sincerely,

Peter A. Rubba, Ed.D.
Councilor, Pi Delta Chi Chapter, Alpha Sigma Lambda
Director of Academic Affairs, World Campus
