Shawna, who has been with Penn State since 1999, joined the World Campus advising team in February, 2009. Shawna is passionate about working with students, and is especially excited to work with adult learners studying via the World Campus. Before joining the World Campus advising team, Shawna spent almost 10 years at Penn State's Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes.
A native of Oklahoma, Shawna earned a bachelor of science in fashion marketing from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After working for a short time in retail management, Shawna returned to school to pursue a master of science in counseling and student personnel at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Shawna has served on numerous diversity committees at Penn State and is a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Support Network.
Outside of work, Shawna spends time with her daughter, husband, and two cats whom she calls "spoiled rotten!" She also enjoys attending sporting events, volunteering for a local animal shelter, and playing cards.
