Richard Brungard

Advising programs coordinator

Richard has been with Penn State World Campus since July 2007. Previously, he worked for two years as an academic adviser for Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts and advised the Liberal Arts Undergraduate Council. During his career at Penn State, Richard has also served as a tutor and as the first-year program coordinator for the University Learning Centers, where he worked one-on-one with students to help them develop the skills they needed to be more successful in their course work.

He came to Penn State in 1998 and earned a master's degree in adult education from Penn State's College of Education; his master's paper was on adult learners and the first-year seminar. Prior to coming to Penn State he taught students in first- and second-year courses at the University of Wisconsin—Stout.

"Teaching students to navigate Penn State, helping them to realize their academic dreams, and getting to know new students each semester are what keeps academic advising an exciting passion for me."
