Lauren, who joined the World Campus advising team in February 2009, has been serving students at Penn State since 2006. She has provided academic advising to undergraduate students in the Smeal College of Business, and the University's First-Year Testing, Counseling, and Advising Program (FTCAP), and provided mental health counseling for Penn State students through The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.
Prior to joining Penn State, Lauren served as an outreach consultant, community therapist, and counselor, and was employed by the U.S. Department of Justice, Legacy Immigration and Naturalization Services — now known as the Department of Homeland Security — for 13 years. She completed a bachelor of arts in human relations while working full-time, and a master of arts in community counseling while raising her family and working part-time.
Outside of work Lauren spends her time volunteering for community projects and enjoying time with her family. She is passionate about issues related to building positive communities, fostering justice and equity, and promoting education.
“As an adult learner myself, I have experienced the challenges of balancing multiple roles with integrity and excellence — I am dedicated to supporting our learners as they do the same at Penn State World Campus.”
