Admissions

Prerequisites and Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in this program. Please remember that advisers are available to discuss your educational goals, financial aid options, and application deadlines.

Students entering the program must have at least 3 years professional experience. A minimum of 5 years professional school experience in a special education area is required for the certificate.

Issuance of the supervisor of special education certificate requires a Level II instructional certificate in any area of special education, including speech and language, visual impairment, hearing impairment, or mentally/physically handicapped.

For your application to be considered complete, submit the following:

  • Statement of purpose
  • 1 letter of recommendation from current or past supervisor
  • 2 official transcripts from each institution attended
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Verification of Experience Form
    Form will be available once you have begun the application process
  • Copy of PA Instructional II Teaching Certificate in area of special education
  • Signed copy of Special Education Supervisory Certificate Checklist
    Form will be available once you have begun the application process
