Admissions

Prerequisites:
  • statement of professional experience and goals
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score
  • baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, earned under residence and credit conditions substantially equivalent to those required by Penn State
  • The Graduate School recommends a minimum overall TOEFL score of 80 points (out of 120) on the new test, with a minimum of 23 points (out of 30) on the new speaking portion, for new admissions. 

Before applying, carefully review the Department of Geography's application instructions for the master of GIS degree and review the technical requirements for the program.
