"As a single mother and I knew the only way I could work, go to college, and raise my son alone, would be to take online classes that I could finish at my own pace. Penn State Online classes allowed me to do my work and still have time for my son, which was perfect for me." —Rachel Amador, undergraduate student

Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management Professional Development Certificate

Penn State's hotel, restaurant, and institutional management certificate program is a unique way for those currently working in or considering a career in hospitality to quickly and conveniently build skills while working toward a degree. Courses are offered at a distance so it is possible for you to study and complete assignments without leaving work or home.

By taking one course every 4 months, a student can complete a certificate in 12 months. Any one of the professional development certificates can be used as a step up to the hospitality management certificate and the associate degree in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management.
