Admissions

Getting Started

Apply online and select Graduate Certificate in Disaster Preparedness as your program of interest.

You can take courses toward this certificate while you complete the application process, and transfer up to 9 credits into the program. Please keep in mind that course enrollment is limited and students with complete applications will have an opportunity for early registration for courses. Be sure to check with an academic adviser as you plan your course work.

Please note the prerequisites and technical requirements for this program.

Completing Your Application

In order to complete your application to the program, you are asked to submit the following:
  • Statement of purpose
  • Résumé
  • Three letters of recommendation  
  • Two official transcripts from each institution attended
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score, if applicable

Prerequisites

For admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must have received, from an accredited institution, a baccalaureate degree (3.0 GPA preferred on a 4.0 scale) with requirements substantially equivalent to those required by Penn State. (Penn State is accredited by the Middle States Association.)

Technical Requirements

Our courses are designed to utilize technology in a way that enriches the learning experience and helps students communicate and collaborate with faculty and classmates in a productive and convenient way. Technology is an important cornerstone of this program; therefore, we provide "live" support from HelpDesk support staff via real-time chat.
