Karen Lesch, Academic Advisor

"As a single mother and I knew the only way I could work, go to college, and raise my son alone, would be to take online classes that I could finish at my own pace. Penn State Online classes allowed me to do my work and still have time for my son, which was perfect for me." —Rachel Amador, undergraduate student

Admissions

Getting Started

Thank you for your interest in applying to this program. Please remember that admission counselors are available to discuss with you your educational goals, financial aid options, and application deadlines. Applicants should check program prerequisites before using the online application tools, which provide basic student information and academic history.

To better serve our students, this program will begin in August starting in 2008. It runs through consecutive semesters over one academic year.

When completing your application, choose the fall semester. If you are rejoining the program after an absence and need to re-apply, please contact student services for assistance.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required for participation in the program. Each course is a prerequisite for the following course. The courses must be taken in the order they are listed. All 5 courses must be taken from Penn State in order to earn this certificate.

If you are ready to begin the admissions process, fill out the World Campus application form. Students with completed applications will be notified when course registration is available.

Technical Requirements

Our courses are designed to use technology in a way that enriches the learning experience and helps students communicate and collaborate with faculty and classmates in a productive and convenient way. Technology is an important cornerstone of this program; therefore, we provide "live" support from HelpDesk support staff through real-time chat. Please view the technical requirements for this program.

Registration Deadlines for Fall 2008

Students will register for their courses online and are encouraged to register prior to the first day of classes. Students are also encouraged to speak to an admissions counselor or check the course schedule for details about the specific classes for which they are registering.
