* Participants in the Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst Program will take the first 3 courses listed, for a total of 12 credits. (SPLED 503A, SPLED 503B, SPLED 503C)

* Participants in the Board Certified Behavior Analyst Program will take all 4 courses listed, for a total of 15 credits. (SPLED 503A, SPLED 503B, SPLED 503C, SPLED 597)

(ABA I)

 

Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education: Basic Principles I
Covers basic behavior principles and is a prerequisite for the 3 subsequent courses offered in this series. Topics include a history of applied behavior analysis; underlying assumptions, dimensions, and characteristics of ABA; ethics and emergencies; basic terminology and principles; and selecting, implementing, and evaluating interventions.

Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education: Basic Principles II
Covers basic behavior analysis procedures and is a prerequisite for the subsequent 2 courses in the ABA series. Topics include ethics, conducting a functional assessment and developing behavior management plans, procedures for strengthening and decreasing behavior, task analyses and instructional plans, self-management plans, and group contingency programs.

(ABA III)

Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education: Extended Applications I
Focuses on major topics and procedural issues especially pertinent in special education settings. Topics include assessment and intervention for challenging behavior, systems support, and classroom applications for ABA.

(ABA IV)

Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education: Extended Applications II
Focuses on current and emerging advanced topics in applied behavior analysis. To ensure professional currency, specific topics will change each time the course is offered but will generally address advances related to measurement, professional ethics, school applications, specific interventions, and emerging areas of behavioral inquiry. A mock certification exam will be provided.
