World Campus Programs Win "Best Buy" Awards
Monday, November 22, 2004
Penn State Outreach staff members were honored recently with Vice President's Awards for their contributions to the outreach mission of the University.
Two undergraduate business degrees offered through Penn State's World Campus won the "Best Buy" award from GetEducated.com, an independent, online counseling center for adult learners.
After a nationwide analysis of tuition costs for online undergraduate human resources degrees, GetEducated.com included Penn State's certificate in human resources and associate's degree in business administration in its list of top 10 bargain buys. According to the clearinghouse, more than 100 colleges in the United States offer online bachelor or associate degrees in business; the colleges that won the award offer the programs at a cost that is up to one-half the national average. GetEducated.com congratulated Penn State "on providing a quality educational opportunity and for helping to make education more financially accessible to adult and nontraditional learners."
The Penn State World Campus's certificate in human resources is designed to provide students with a background in human resources management. It addresses the intricacies of implementing efficient organizational and job designs that meet the needs of small or large businesses. The associate degree program in business administration aims to develop well-rounded and technically knowledgeable graduates by providing students with sufficient communications and mathematical skills, socially relevant course work and options in specific business specialties.
